Mission Statement 

boys team charity is a volunteer service organization dedicated to developing an altruistic spirit in young men through active participation of parents and sons in philanthropic projects in their communities.
 

 

 Goals

1.  Serve the Community: Develop a sense of social responsibility.

2.  Promote Personal Growth: Build self esteem and a giving spirit.

3.  Strengthen Family Relationships:  Deepen bonds with parents by working together in boys team charity.

4.  Develop Leadership Skills:  Cultivate respect and an appreciation of others by working as a team, 
     developing leadership skills, and creating friendships.

5.  Provide Educational Opportunities:  Provide young men with experiences that foster their community 
     responsibilities and goals.

 


  

Facts & Requirements

•  Boys are “TeamMates” and Parents are “Coaches

  Our annual operating year is May 1st through April 30th 

  New members may apply to join btc anytime during the annual membership drive during their 6th through 11th grade year. Boys are assigned to “teams” by the grade which they will enter in the fall of that membership year. Teams are referred to by their high school graduating year. 

  There are up to 26* TeamMates in each team (by grade) with vacancies filled during the annual membership drive by random draw as they are available. We maintain a waitlist of interested candidates should we not have openings in a particular team.

          *Target class size; this may vary slightly due to limited board-approved exceptions

  btc Walnut Creek League applicants are eligible for membership if you live in the Walnut Creek School District.

  btc has three (3) General Membership meetings per year (May, September and January) that both the TeamMate and Coach(es) should attend; two (2) are required 

  btc has three (3) additional grade level meetings per year that the TeamMate only should attend; two (2) are required

  Annual Philanthropy Service Hours requirements for both boys and parent(s): 
            Grade  7, 8, & 9........................15 hours each
            Grade 10, 11, & 12....................10 hours each

  Annual League Hours requirements for both TeamMates and Coach(es): 6 hours minimum each (earned by attending general or grade level meetings as mentioned above)

•  Coaches are required to serve in a leadership role for at least one two-year term during their btc tenure.

  Annual Financial Requirements: 
            TeamMate plus one or two Coaches (parents).........$150

    Additional TeamMate...........................................$75   


 Sponsorship Information

All new members to btc Walnut Creek League can be sponsored by a current btc Walnut Creek member in good standing, but it is not a requirement.

Once a current member has agreed to serve as a Sponsor, he/she must submit the Intent to Sponsor Form to the VP of Membership. The Prospective Member must then complete the New Member Application (available online on the homepage) and submit by the deadline listed below. 

All new applicants are sorted by their appropriate class. If there are more applicants than space available in a class, the applicants will be selected by random draw to fill the class or, if necessary, placed on a waitlist.  All Prospective Member Applicants and their Sponsors will be contacted by the VP Membership following the draw.

Legacies (siblings of current members) are automatic members.

We currently have space available in the Classes of 2025, 2028, and 2029 for the 2024/2025 membership year. Applicants for all other classes may be waitlisted.
